Opportunity

We’re looking for a Financial Modeller to join the Commercial Finance team. In this role your primary focus will be to help support the Financial Modelling and Data requirements within the Insurance, Money Services and Partnerships business.

Insurance, Money Services and Partnerships is a newly formed business within Tesco Group, with a remit to provide Tesco customers with great products across everyday Finance needs such as Insurance and Travel money. There aren’t many times in someone’s career where the opportunity exists to be part of something new and to grow along with the business. The IMS business has a growth strategy that is fully supported by Tesco Group meaning that any individual should come with a keen growth mindset and focus on delivering business goals in a forward-looking business.

The Role

  • Will provide a unique opportunity to support the management of finance data, reporting and financial modelling to support the continued growth ambitions of established and new products but as part of a newly formed business.
  • You’ll have exposure to senior stakeholders with a key focus on financial analysis, forecasting, modelling, and evaluation to support business leaders in their decision making.
  • This role will sit within the Commercial Finance Product team within the Finance function. You’ll have connections to your financial control colleagues, as well as your broader Commercial Finance colleagues looking after Money Services and Insurance products, but your day-to-day will be focusing on supporting the management of key aspects of the data management system and tactical financial analysis, modelling, and evaluation to support business leaders in their decision making.
  • This role will best suit someone with ambition to grow and deliver business outcomes. In doing this, the opportunity to progress within the business is something that would be encouraged to ensure Tesco IMS nurtures talent and provides ongoing career opportunities.

What you’ll be doing

  • Collecting business requirements using a variety of methods such as interviews, document analysis, workshops, and workflow analysis to express the requirements in terms of target user roles and goals.
  • Contribute to the design and creation of reporting. Support execution of complex reports, identifying and interpreting complex patterns and trends, and translating those insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Support the management of key aspects of the data management system, developing and operating key elements of the system.
  • Undertake financial analysis, forecasting, modelling, and evaluation to support business leaders in their decision making.
  • Provide specialist advice on the interpretation and application of data policies and procedures.

We need you to have

  • Financial planning and forecasting experience.
  • Strong inquisitive mindset, to be able to find and develop insight from the numbers that can be used to influence decisions.
  • Communicate effectively to build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Works independently and can provide guidance and training to others on analysing data trends for use in reports to help guide decision making.
  • Expert user of MS Excel e.g. Power query, data connections and Hyperion.

And if you have any of these, even better

  • Experience in Insurance or Financial Services.
  • Experience in a Decision Support or Business Partnering function.
  • Part Qualified (CIMA/ACCA/ICAS).
  • Demonstrable experience of being able to quickly form networks and hit the ground running.
  • Visual Basic (VBA); a general understanding.

We don’t expect you to tick every box, and if you feel you hit most of the brief, it’s worth exploring to further develop your career here with us.

What’s in it for you

  • Prepare for your retirement with our colleague pension scheme.
  • Private Medical Insurance (WL2+) and virtual GP Service you and your family 365 days a year.
  • Performance related annual bonus.
